Just a quick action request here. As everyone knows Senator Rick Santorum almost won the Iowa Caucuses. Like many here, I was disappointed that he didn't because nothing would make me happier than seeing a hateful bigot whose name has been turned into a synonym, for among other things, "don't be a bigoted asshole or Dan Savage will fuck your shit up" as the Republican front man.
However, a small snag has developed. Because of the renewed attention to Senator Rick Santorum it seems that there is a danger that he will actually be able to take his name back by virtue of appealing to the very hate that made him lose it in the first place. In fact, while it still holds number one for "Santorum" the proper result is only number 3 for "Rick Santorum", number 4 for "Sen. Rick Santorum", a position it also holds for "Senator Rick Santorum". It is also number 4 for "Santorum for President".
We can do better than that.
What's more, with all the attention Sen. Rick Santorum is receiving as a result of his strong performance in Iowa, we run the real danger of people forgetting what Rick Santorum really stands for. We need to make sure that everyone always understands what "Santorum" really means.
Unfortunately, I'm not really a tech guy, but apparently the best way to do this is to make sure that whenever you discuss Sen. Rick Santorum,Sen. Santorumm, Santorum, the Santorum Campaign, or "Santorum for President" you also add a link that takes you to spreadingsantorum.com.
So first, I'd like to ask those better versed in techie stuff than I (I think that would include most of you) if I am right in this understanding of things. Second, once that is confirmed, please be sure that whenever you write "Santorum", "Rick Santorum", "Sen. Rick Santorum", or any other possible permutation of "Santorum", make sure you give spreadingsantorum.com some love.
Thanks for your support.
We sure want to make sure that everyone who looks up "Santorum for President" knows exactly what the man is all about.
UPDATE: From the comments (h/t to NamelessGenXer):
Fun as it is, direct traffic to spreadingsantorum.com won't do that.
The key to keeping it at the top of the Google results is to GOOGLE it and click on the outbound link from Google.
Repeat with Yahoo and Bing.
I've been doing this every single day since that vile POS Santorum announced its candidacy.
Also too, if you want to embed a link, embed the Google results link:
https://www.google.com/search?q=santorum
I would just add that we should also do that for all of the possible permutations of "Santorum"
UPDATE 2: You have to love internet ads. I just googled "Santorum for President" in which, by the way, we are way behind--you actually have to go to page 2 don't know why I screwed that one up), clicked through and got a banner ad "Santorum for President? Vote here." right above the brown splotchy thing. I know that its not from the campaign, but it was still just too funny.
