Some of you may know that I do a Sunday Bread post every Sunday. Some of you may not, not everyone is around on the weekends. What almost no one will know is that there is a Sunday Breads and Other Foods group here at Daily Kos.
I started it way back when version 4 started, but never really did more with it than use it as a place to have all the Sunday Bread posts. I want to change that, but to do so I need other Kossacks.
So, this is the time to step up. What I am looking for is folks to do the same thing I do with bread but with other foods. Or breads if you like. I am looking for as many as would like to join.
Now, one of things that has made the Sunday Bread series a bit of a cult hit here is that it that all the posts are written from experience. Meaning that the recipe presented was made that week and pictures of it appear in the post, along with any pictures that might be required to illustrate any ambiguous directions.
The other thing is that all the recipes are written with a lot of detail. This is important as many cook books or even family recipes assume skills and knowledge that not everyone has. By way of example, instead of just saying “Chiffonade the basil leaves” I write out the following:
To make the chiffonade, take ten or so basil leaves. Stack them on top of each other and then roll them into a tight cylinder. Starting at one end of the roll, slice thin slices, working your way to the other end.
I know there are other food groups around, but I’d like to bring this one up to a higher standard. Now I know that not everyone is as comfortable with cooking writing as I am but no worries! I am willing to help anyone who wants with content and formatting advice.
So, are there any Kossacks out there that would like to commit to one or two posts a month (or you could do it weekly like I do) about made from scratch food? If so let me know in comments or hit me in Kos mail and lets get the details hashed out.
I am 100% sure there are other avid bakers and cooks here who’d love to share their love of all things kitchen with the rest of the community. So, don’t be shy!
The floor is yours!
