this diary is mostly not noticed. It isn't a Ron Paul diary, lamenting the lack of someone on the Left espousing his anti imperialism views. It isn't a righteous, and I do mean righteous, rant about the Paulbots playing games on this site. It is simply a plea to remember the military and their families. To remember all they sacrifice with so little given in return.
Please look again at 74 % of our country think it is ok for the military to take the hit. Just part of being in the military. What is that??? Really?? When my husband returned home from serving in Viet Nam he was spit on when he got off the plane. You don't condone the war? Fine. You don't spit on my husband, he did what YOUR elected officials told him to do, or else. You don't like war, work to make it stop. Don't you ever, not a one of you, ever, spit on my husband again. Please understand, I am not talking to you folks here, or I am if I need to, but am talking to those who are all wrapped up in fucking Ron Paul and what he seems to have "right" while forgetting that whether or not you approve of war or imperialism, some folks, grunts, have to do what they are told to do or face extremely dire consequences, for themselves and their families. And, oh no siree, don't give me the strawman crap that it they really believed in anything they would stand up and protest. Against whom?? The f'ing US Military?? Don't think so and if you do, you are completely disingenuous. My husband had a partial scholarship to college from the ROTC and he completely paid it back with his thirteen months in Viet Nam, in the Army Artillery. BTW, he wears hearing aids now, that shit did his hearing in.
So, in the great "discussion" of all things Ron Paul, for the love of Mike, could someone, anyone, think of and remember our military personnel and their families?? Ron Paul will line birdcages tomorrow. Or the next day. Our heroes, those among us who put their very lives on the line, get very little press. Do you care about that, or do you need to continue to fight about Ron Paul, his "ideas" that seem to speak for some on the "left"... thus one more time forgetting those who didn't choose it but are truly fighting, with and for their, and your, lives?
Fugeddaboudit. This ain't sexy, it isn't a OOOOhhh Ron Paul said "..." diary. It is, however, a thank you, a shout out, a well done, to those who bravely serve in our military, whether they believe in the mission or not, whether they agree with it or not, they serve. And I for one thank them a million times over for what they do versus what our politicians "do", namely, nothing. Our military truly serve. Our politicians, blather and lie.
I'm done now except to say again, thank you for all you do, those who put their lives in harm's way, and to the families who support them, with very little help from those of us who don't have to be in their place.
