Nationwide Call for Action - Starting Today! - You are all invited to participate!
This is the second announcement for National Recall Walker Week on Daily Kos, the brainchild of Daily Kos writers TriangleNC and noise of rain. You can read the first announcement here.
As you know, the signature gathering phase of the Recall Walker campaign will be ending Friday, Jan 13, with all petitions submitted to the Government Accountability Board (GAB) on Tuesday, Jan 17. (I'll be doing a diary about the submission ceremony and gigantic post-submission celebrations.)
Said noise of rain in his earlier announcement:
It has been amazing to be in the streets and witness the courage and commitment of fellow activists. I'm told that 25,000 volunteers have been working across the state. And not just around Madison and Milwaukee: from Rhinelander to Racine, Bayfield to Janesville, LaCrosse to Sturgeon Bay, we have seen an unprecedented grassroots campaign that is changing political history as it holds politicians accountable for the governing of all people, not just the crony corporate plutocrats that prop up puppets who in turn line their greedy nests with the sweet deals of deregulation.
Well said, brother noise.
Our Daily Kos Community has been so supportive of our efforts here in Wisconsin to force the recall of Governor Walker. The love and support from our Daily Kos Community is palpable. We in Wisconsin knew early on that what happens here will have a substantial impact on what happens nationally, especially in 2012, so we want you to join us in any way you can to help us push toward the recall signature finish line.
Consider this an invitation to utilize and share your creativity to help make this happen. During the next week, make any large or small intervention, action, happening, protest, occupation. Then document it with photos, video, or descriptions. Post the results in the comments section one of our National Recall Walker Week diaries, or send links and results to noise of rain via the Daily Kos messaging system. If he gets enough submissions he would like to post a diary at the end of the week highlighting your actions.
I should mention, we could easily call it International Recall Walker Week, so don't let your location stop you. If you are outside the United States, feel free to join in!
Need some ideas?
You could gather a few friends and head to your state capitol to sing "On Wisconsin" and some "Recall Walker" songs. Just make up your own words to standard tunes.
You could order a pizza and ask them to spell out "Recall Walker" with the pepperoni.
You could wear a button with a cryptic slogan, and when people ask you about it, tell them all about Scott Walker and our recall effort.
Paint your truck. OK, don't paint your truck, but hang a little "Recall Walker" sign in the back window.
Buy a beer for someone from Wisconsin.
We can't do this without you. There are only three requirements: 1) you do something, 2) you document it, 3) you have fun!
