The Occupy Wall Street movements, who for months now have been taking their anti-corporate greed message “everywhere”, will now take it to those Wall Street enablers that “We the People” regrettably elected to office. That’s right people; “Occupy Congress” is coming to Washington D.C. on January 17, 2012.
The protest starts at 9:00am at the United States Capitol Building, Washington, DC 20016.
People from all across the country are already making their travel plans using trains, planes, buses and automobiles. Thousands of protesters are expected and they will be taking their message to the horse’s mouth, all 535 of them, as they occupying the Halls of Congress.
If you are unable to make it to the event there are still plenty of ways to support the Occupy Wall Street movement. First and most oblivious is with money, lots of coordination and logistics are required for an event this size and this important, and you can make a donation on the Occupy Congress website. There will be needs for help with transportation, lodging, and food, in and around the Washington D.C. area.
The Occupy Congress website has a page that covers transportation to the event, which is broken down by regions in the United States. You will also find information on lodging, such as Hostels, Churches, and even tents and Couch Surfing.
Thanks to the internet’s ability for live streaming and some very brave videographers that place themselves in the front lines to show you what is happening at Occupy movements across the country, you will be able to view the entire event from many sources and many angles. A list of videographer stream pages will be made available in the coming days.
Occupy Wall Street is a Peaceful movement, yet there are powers that want to silence their voices, these powers use the police to squash their voices and keep the media at bay as the batons, pepper spray, tear gas and guns are used against US citizens whose US Constitution give them the right to peacefully protest. The main stream media ignores them and the right wing media disparages them. Yet, they still prevail, they still continue to protest and each time they are attacked by the police, it only strengthens their resolve. You cannot silence an idea, and you cannot stop the truth from being heard.
