4:34 PM PT: Reminder, most polls in New Hampshire closed at 7 p.m. ET, but a few close at 8 p.m. That's why the race hasn't been called for Romney yet.
The real drama tonight is whether Romney hits 40 percent, and who comes in second, and whether Santorum can get double digits.
4:37 PM PT:
4:39 PM PT (David Nir): Our first sizable batch of results has come through, and Romney is at 37% with 4% reporting. Paul is well back at 24, and then Huntsman far off at 15, though he may or may not be in a three-way fight for third with Gingrich and Santorum, who brings up the rear.
4:39 PM PT: Mitt Romney essentially lived in NH for the last four years. He's from neighboring Massachusetts. This is his home turf. He's known here better than anywhere else except, perhaps, Utah.
And he's having a hard time cracking 40%.
4:41 PM PT: Rick Perry has 87 votes out of about 12,000 cast, which is, quite frankly, hilarious.
4:44 PM PT: Report: If Gingrich drops out, he would endorse Santorum.
4:46 PM PT:
4:48 PM PT: BREAKING! Romney is going to win!
Pretty cool how I scooped all the networks, huh?
4:51 PM PT: Andrea Mitchell says John Huntsman's daddy is only putting $50K for advertising for his son in South Carolina.
If it were me, I'd be mortified that everyone is talking about my daddy bankrolling me.
4:52 PM PT: citizenx, in the comments:
Mittens has a house in NH
I bet all of his servants vote for him in hopes that he lives in DC for a while.
4:54 PM PT (David Nir): Compared to our county-by-county benchmarks, it doesn't look like Romney is getting what he needs in order to hit 40% overall.
4:55 PM PT:
4:56 PM PT (David Nir): More properly speaking, our benchmarks go town-by-town. In Manchester, the state's biggest, Romney probably needs about 41% in order to clear 40. He's only at 37, though, with most of the town already in.
4:57 PM PT: Finally, evidence of voter fraud! In a GOP primary.
5:00 PM PT (David Nir): With 10% reporting, Romney is at 35, Paul at 25, Huntsman at 16, Gingrich at 11 and Santorum at 10. Questions: How "damanged" will Romney be if he finishes below 40? Can Huntsman get the proverbial ticket out of New Hampshire with a third-place finish? And should Rick Santorum have given up on NH and gone straight to SC instead?
5:00 PM PT: Gasp! Mittens won!
5:02 PM PT (David Nir): Exit polls are now available. Link.
5:07 PM PT (Kaili Joy Gray): The liveblogging continues in the next thread.
