Romney talking about "quiet rooms" sounded familiar to me, and it took awhile to remember the song.
Alice Cooper did an outstanding album about mental illness back in the '70's, called "From the Inside".
The song "The Quiet Room" is about a suicidal inpatient; but there are a few lines that might (I think) make sense in this whole "these things should only be spoken of in quiet rooms" idea.
The Quiet Room
Is sterilized and white
It's like a tomb
With just a moth stained naked night
This quiet place
It ain't so new to me
It's haunted atmosphere
Has heard so many scream
My home from home
My twilight zone
My strangest dream
In this time, when war has caused record suicides among our soldiers, and loss of jobs and healthcare and grinding poverty has caused so much suffering and pain, these lines just reflect how this "quiet room" idea from Romney are speaking to me tonight.
I'll yell loudly about inequality, at the ballot box in November. I'll think of these words, whenever I hear your condescending words about "quiet rooms".
