For the life of me, I cannot figure out why so many are so crazy for this Bible Thumpin, evolution denying, racist, homophobic anti-Semite southern segregationist. He is not "new" nor is he the "cleanest candidate who ever ran".
Frankly, his supporters are driving me nuts. One only needs to turn to youtube to see the evidence that he has developed quite the cult of personality. Before the article, I will post a video from the "Amazing Atheist" that sums up my feeling about Paul supporters. I will admit that it takes two to tango and I often find it hard to restrain myself from commenting and replying to his supporters.
Just for the record, even LaRouche knows Paul is nuts.
"Lyndon LaRouche responded that "Ron Paul is off the wall on this one. I have never trusted him and now my lack of trust in him is confirmed. He says some useful things, but there are too many screw ball angles.
"He is talking like an idiot. He does not know the meaning of the U.S. Constitution. He is either illiterate or he is drinking the wrong juice these days."

I think I may have figured out some of his appeal and its not all that different from "Love Bombing" which is a common cult tactic.
"Love Bombing" is a very effective way to target individuals who are struggling. Cults Leaders know that the best time to grab someone is when they are down. Cult Members look for this people as well, but their intentions are often good. They have the answer to your problem, they want to save you and they love you. The new member is invited somewhere (a church, temple, meetup, political rally) and those "in the fold" tell them how great things are now and how much they love them. They pour this stuff on thick.
The media will often express wonder when they discuss Emperor Paulpatine's speeches. Paul paints a very very gloomy picture. He points out that things are bad, "they" cough the NWO cough are coming to get you, "they" control the government and its going to get much worse. Paul not only offers an explanation (a bullshit one, but its simple to understand)... no no, he also offers a solution! That solution happens to be... RON "LIBERTY MESSIAH" PAUL!! You see with the help of Ron Paul, Jesus, Lew Rockwell, Alex Jones, the Gold Standard and "AUSTRIAN ECONOMICS!!" ( http://www.huppi.com/...) we can all be saved! Anyone who questions Paul must be an operative of the NWO and part of the world wide conspiracy to take down Ron. But Ron has "got them scared" and Ron Paul himself talks about how "dangerous" he is all the time.
I know not all of them are this crazy, but it sure seems like a hell of alot of them are. Frankly, I do not think they are as large as many suggest. I think they are very loud though and have lots of time on their hands. I do believe that some of his support is going to fizzle out once those with the ability to come back to reality finally accept that a man who surronds himself with White Nationalists and hate preachers for his entire political carrer just might be capable of writing racist and homophobic literature. An individual that regularly appears on Alex Jones radio show just might have some things to hide.
When one looks at the origin of many of Paul's conspiracy theories they shouldn't be surprised that they are just rehashed garbage spewed by the John Birch Society. It also should surprise anyone that the John Birch Society has received lots of Koch money (O.G. Koch dollars to be exact). You see, the Koch family are the masters of the racist dog whistle and the Republicans have been blowing them since that pesky thing called society realized that discrimination is unacceptable. Ron Paul is no different from this.
Ron Paul is the same thing as Pat Buchanan and Strom Thurmond. Why some people are unable to see this is beyond me. Its a sad fact that many probably like the fact that he is opposed to the civil rights act. Those people are crazy and we already knew it. But why are so many willing to throw out their own principles for Ron Paul's?
When I see Ron Paul, I get angry. I really do. This man has said some disgusting things. This man called MLK Jr a "Communist Philander". This man does not believe in a separation of Church and State and believes the United States is a Christian Nation.
"The notion of a rigid separation between church and state has no basis in either the text of the Constitution or the writings of our Founding Fathers." -
"The Founding Fathers envisioned a robustly Christian... America, with churches serving as vital institutions that would eclipse the state in importance."
Ron Paul "The War on Religion"
You know who does know quite a bit about the Constitution? The guy who graduated with a LAW DEGREE from Harvard Law School. The guy who taught Constitutional Law at U.I.C. Law. Yes, our current President, Barack Obama knows more about the Constitution than a Southern Baptist Ob-Gyn.
Here is a great video from the Amazing Atheist on the Cult of Ron Paul. It is a great watch, but it contains swear words so it might not be work safe. Bonus: Includes footage of Paul denying evolution, calling himself a "scientist" and reaffirming once again that he is "an unshakable foe of abortion".

Alright, now I feel better.
