Talk about it here. Watch it live on CNN or
online.
5:12 PM PT: More Newt firing hard on John King: "I'm tired of the elite media ... protecting Barack Obama." More huge applause from the crowd.
5:14 PM PT: Santorum kinda' sorta' tries to attack Newt, but settles on forgiveness. Mitt Romney says let's move on—Romneybot couldn't figure out how to work his wife into the answer, I guess. Ron Paul says setting standards is important and he's proud to be here with his wife.
5:15 PM PT: In the comments, miracle11 called it "cheering for cheaters" which is pretty much right, but the fact is they are cheering, and that is damn good for Newt in the context of the primary.
5:16 PM PT: You know what question John King should have asked the guys on the stage? "Given that you think gay marriage should be illegal because it undermines straight marriage, should individuals who are unfaithful within the context of straight marriage be allowed to stay married?"
5:17 PM PT: Now we're on to real jobs, Ron Paul muttered about the gold standard, Newt got the first shot at talking about expanding the Port of Charleston, which connects well with South Carolina.
5:19 PM PT: Now Bain: Newt continues to say that in some instances, Bain's model undermined companies he invested in. Romney responds by saying he'd rather talk about the economy in general, and then he keeps on saying "Obama ... crony capitalism ... Solyndra ... labor stooges... crony capitalism ... bow to the most extreme members of environmental movement."
5:19 PM PT: John King is giving Mitt another opportunity to dodge talking about Bain.
5:20 PM PT: Romney is so fucking lame. He's falling back on the "Newt is attacking capitalism trope." "I find it strange standing on a stage with other Republicans" and defending myself.
5:21 PM PT (Kaili Joy Gray): The liveblogging continues in the next thread.
