Why I, a member if the Wisconsin Uprising, support Obama despite having many reasons to bitch about him;
It's about urging them to keep their promises, not sowing division.
It's roughly the same reason I am going to vote for a democrat for governor in the recall NO MATTER WHO HE OR SHE IS.
True, I think democrats and republicans alike need to take note of what we did in WI because it can happen anywhere and they need to serve us or face our wrath..
But being anti Obama is counter productive.
I want Obama to follow through, not lose the election.
If we have proven anything here in Wisconsin it's that the people DO have a voice and we CAN make ourselves heard, no matter how much "conventional wisdom" says that we have no voice and can't change much.
If we did one thing, it was to show the world that the system may be broken or sick but if our will is strong enough we can fix it.
We can force the political systems of the world to serve us again.. And in Wisconsin, in the United States, we can do it by forcing ourselves into a system that many thought was broken beyond repair. If we can recall Walker in a state where the bar is set higher than anywhere else, we can recall anyone. If we can recall anyone we put the fear of god (or rather the people) into all politicians, D, R or I.
If we have done all that, we can make Obama listen and effect lasting change.
BELIEVE IT!
Believe it because at one point nobody thought we could do it.
If Obama loses the election our job becomes much harder. Instead of force change we will also have to undo great damage. 4 years of damage.
With Obama we have the chance to force change.
With a republican we would first have to stave off utter destruction.
A democratic president in his last term is infinitely more tractable than a psychotic republican in his first term.
Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum would be exponentially worse and to deny that fact is blindness.
Just like to say that somehow not voting for Obama accomplishes something other than supporting the radical agendas of the far right.
When faced with a slap in the face or eating a huge pile of broken glass, I'm gonna go with the slap.
WHAT WE CAN DO IS to convince Obama, congress and every elected official that their job depends on holding wall street accountable, getting big money out of politics and serving the people.
In that way, we change the fundamental structure of American political system and pave the way for something better.
That's what's up.
That's why I'm voting Obama and you should too.
Also, Ron Paul is a huge bigot and has no grasp of economics, get a clue.
