Ripped from the headlines, the latest news from Chicago:
Could Your Dog be the First "Distinguished Dog of Chicago"?
Dogs registered by March 1 will be eligible to be voted for online by Chicagoans for the dog which best exemplifies the Spirit of Chicago.
Dog registration is not only a matter of public safety but also a legal requirement in Chicago.
You can register online on the City Clerk's website, at any of the three office locations, or you can be sent a registration packet by calling [phone number mercifully omitted].
You can't make stuff like this up. It is a very close relative to the contests New Jersey used to hold to choose a new state motto. ("New Jersey - A State of Mind" topped my list and it wasn't even in the contest.)
What more apt and able community is there than us Daily Kossacks to propose breeds and traits that might mount their ideal animal to the top of the pack in America's city of broad-shoulders.
So Commentors, let's honor Chicago by showing it how to go to the best dog we can conjure up!
