Can you imagine the discussion in the room over the weekend between Mitt Romney's advisors and the putative chief executive and decision maker over the Romney tax issue?
Under considerable pressure to release his tax records ("Will you, governor?" "Maybe."), the Romney camp let the dogs out on Tuesday.
I can imagine the discussion:
Advisor 1: So, let's stanch the bleeding and get this out asap.
Advisor 2: But Tuesday is the State of the Union. Won't it be a difficult contrast? Obama will likely be on about "fairness" and "Occupy" and maybe even "the Buffet Rule." Won't that look bad?
Romney: Nah. Let's do it Tuesday. Gosh, what harm could come from it?
Advisor 2: You're right. [To Advisor 1]: Pass the Grey Poupon, won't you, old boy?
