The H.O.R.S.E Rescue and Sanctuary in Pavilion, New York must find new homes for its rescues. Chris and Mike Dodge started the rescue in 1993 and moved to make it a non-profit in 1996. They have rescued over 400 horses and kept those who weren't adopted at their sanctuary in Western New York.
Mike was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Chris and volunteers have been doing the work, but she also needs to care for Mike. She has had the support of the community. Before the holidays they still needed to place 21 horses, now they are down to 13 with two of those pending.
They have a great website at www.hrsny.org, if you want to see the work they have done. There is also a UTube video called "The Promise" .
The local TV and papers have covered their story, but they still need help to find homes for 11 more horses. Volunteers with experience and donations are also very welcome, but Chris needs to be able to spend time with Mike so finding homes has been their priority.
There is a place to donate at Network for Good, (HORSE Rescue and Sanctuary). The address to mail donations is HORSE Rescue and Sanctuary, Inc. BOX 432, York, NY 14592.
I'm sorry I do not know how to embed the links or photos that would improve this diary, but I thank you for your time reading about Mike and Chris, and welcome your feedback.
