More news on the FOTHOM front.
Brit doesn't seem to be about at the moment so here goes nothing.................
There were five arrests today, four Sun Newspaper employees and a serving police officer.
The Metropolitan police have also launched a search at News International's headquarters in Wapping, east London, in an attempt to secure any potential evidence relating to alleged payments to police by journalists.
Officers were accompanied by lawyers who arrived at the Sun's offices between 6am and 8am on Saturday morning. They are there to ensure that "journalist privilege" in relation to sources is not compromised.
It is the first time since the phone-hacking scandal erupted that the Sun has been targeted in such a major way, but sources stressed the dawn raid had nothing to do with voicemail interception and was solely related to paying police for stories.
The arrests are in connection with Operation Elvedon which is investigating inappropriate payments to the police.
According to The Telegraph there are some bigwigs in the mix.
The men, believed to include current and former executives, were detained after information was handed to the Metropolitan Police by News Corporation, the tabloid’s parent company.
The arrested journalists are believed to be Fergus Shanahan, 57, who was Rebekah Brooks’s deputy during her editorship of the Sun from 2003 to 2009, who now works as a comment writer; Chris Pharo, 42, the current head of news; Graham Dudman, 49, a former managing editor, who now works in a training role for News International; and Mike Sullivan, 48, the paper’s long-serving crime editor.
Don't really like The Daily Mail, but more info from them...
The arrests represent another massive blow to the credibility of News International in the wake of the phone-hacking revelations.
The officer, who serves with the MPS Territorial Policing command, is being questioned at a south London police station.
He was arrested on suspicion of corruption, misconduct in a public office and conspiracy in relation to the offences.
It would seem that these people were actually thrown under the bus by News International, which you would never know by the email sent out by Tom Mockridge, News International Chief Executive...
Dear all,
This morning four of our colleagues were arrested by the Metropolitan police service in relation to Operation Elveden. I understand that the arrests resulted from information provided to the MPS by News Corporation's Management and Standards Committee.
We believe that those arrested are currently being questioned by the police and we must take care not to pre-judge the outcome of the police interviews. The company has provided legal support to those interviewed today. The police are also conducting a limited search at the Sun's offices, supervised by the MSC's lawyers.

Despite this very difficult news, we are determined that News International will emerge a stronger and more trusted organisation.
We must all support Dominic who will be leading his staff to deliver, as always, a great paper for Monday and going forward.
Yeah, okay, guess they'll be delighted you support them.
