Thanks oodles to everyone who dropped by my "happy birthday/get well soon" diary for Keith Olbermann on Friday; I was on the stinkin' Rec List for a good chunk of the day!
Since tomorrow night will be all - FL - primary all - the - time, this diary will take the night off but will return Wednesday. :)
Let's move on to "this day in history." On January 30, 1948, Indian political and spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi was murdered by a Hindu extremist. On this date in 1969, the Beatles performed in public for the last time in a 45-minute gig on the roof of their Apple Records headquarters in London.
Finally, we have a birthday that is worthy of THE cake!! :D Yes, I know some of you have "sensitive natures" about this particular dessert, but, once you read who it's for, you'll know it's worth it. DICK is 71 today. Seriously, do I really need to go into why he's so particularly deserving with the admonition to "Go Cheney Himself!"??!!
Let's Countdown...
Many thanks to Bill Press for again pinch - hitting for Keith while he's on the DL!
#5 "No Ifs, Ands, or Newts" AKA "Sunshine Slugfest" - Mittens is stretching out a lead in FL before tomorrow's primary; Newt says he's in the primary for the long haul no matter what happens tomorrow. Yep, y'all can drag this mother out so it gets even more good & ugly than it is now! :D Check out Mittens' plane! "You get a snack! And, you get a snack! And, you get a snack!" "Herb" endorsed Newt this past weekend. Well, they do have those "extra curricular" activities in common! ;D Newt complained about establishments "buying an election." R...i...g...h...t If his casino BFF decides to stop writing checks, Newt's toast. Senator McCentury wants all these MENSA meetings over with. Craig Crawford's in FL tonight! Newt could lose by double digits tomorrow. It would appear that Mittens is winning the ad war on FL television machines. Newt claimed his debate performances were off was because he was simply stunned by the lies Mittens was telling. The Mittens campaign is very good about 'splaining why folks shouldn't vote for Newt; they need to improve their "why to vote for Mittens" memo. Rep. Ron Paul will probably hang around awhile; Man on Dog's future isn't so clear. Newt didn't get on the ballot in MO, either?! What a nimrod! Eliot Spitzer gets to forecast these MENSA meetings post - FL. Upcoming primaries & caucuses are in southern states; well, Newt will just appeal to the lowest common denominator again like he did in SC. A lot of GOBP are petrified of down - ballot candidates if Newt's at the top of the ticket. TurdBlossom said the Dems will retake the House if Newt's the GOBP candidate? Wow! Let us all remember Newtie won't be on the VA primary ballot - brainiac. If Mittens is the nominee, Newtie will eventually play ball & endorse.
#4 "Tea - ing Off" AKA "Iced Tea" - A liberal - leaning SuperPAC is out to oust the 10 worst tea bagger Congress critters. Yea, Citizens United works both ways! The first 6 include Joe "Deadbeat Dad" Walsh, Chip Cravaack (never heard of him), Sean Duffy (never heard of him but maybe our WI F.O.O. have), Allen West (unfortunately heard of him!), Frank Gulnta (never heard of him", and Steve "Destroy IRS Buildings" King. Becky Bond is the head of CREDO. $aint $arah from Wasilla doesn't think Newt's part of the GOBP establishment, so she's leaning toward him. She thinks a vote for Newt will "annoy a liberal"?! HA! Yea, there's a reason her MENSA application's still in process. ;D The Kochtopus & TurdBlossom were the big bankrollers for the tea bagger victories in 2010; Ms. Bond hopes to reverse that. The CREDO SuperPAC hopes to raise $3 million. Will that be enough? The first 6 selected are the worst of the best (or best of the worst), but they're actually in competitive races. Bat$hit Bachmann just might make the list; I sure hope so! Ms. Bond is counting on volunteers knocking on doors to talk politics.
"Time Marches On!" - A little boy was doing freakin' push - ups while balanced on glass bottles? $hit! A doggie just did not want to cross an inch of water; you'd think he was a kitty. Crown Point, IN has an interesting way of punishing those who don't show up for jury duty; Crown Point is way up by Chicago - hell & gone from me.
#3 "Occupying Occupy" - Occupy Oakland got nasty again over the weekend. It would appear that trouble - makers are successfully infiltrating protestors & causing a $hitload of headaches. Occupy DC camps remain despite a noon deadline; some think police will just wait until everyone's asleep. A DC protestor got tazed when he tore up eviction signs?! $hit! New York protestors marched up 5th Ave. While Oakland cops were surrounding a YMCA, other protestors were vandalizing city hall. Josh Harkinson has a bird's eye view of what happened in Oakland this weekend. Oakland anarchists are a bit more violent & aggressive. Oakland was the birthplace of the Black Panthers & has a hell of a history with the community and the cops. Occupy Oakland might "tolerate" aggressiveness more than other Occupy folk. I don't think Occupy's gone just 'cause the tents are gone; lots of activities are going on behind the scenes. And, as far as "tents," just wait 'til the weather warms up again.
#2 "Reince Your Mouth Out" - Reince Priebus compared President Obama to the Italian captain who abandoned his sinking ship. Well, he is a Walker CheeseHead, so he'll just ooze class! He also used the Dem 2008 primary as an example to prove an extended GOBP primary will strengthen the party. {insert annoying buzzer here} WRONG! He didn't back down from his insult on FAUX News today - like FAUX News was gonna demand an apology.
#1 "Paying for Protection" AKA "Birth Control Blowback" - Uh, Catholic priests read letters condemning the administration's stance on birth control? Huh...sounds an awfully lot like POLITICAL activity to me, so how high will their taxes be since they'll be losing their tax - exempt status? Of course, Newtie declared President Obama is at war with religion 'cause Newt's such a good Catholic boy. Eleanor Smeal just doesn't want women in second - class healthcare just because of their faith. What a concept! And, in a fact that might send shivers down Newtie's & Man on Dog's spine, a lot of Catholic women use birth control! The birth control debate might be the "new" abortion debate. Remember all those "personhood" amendments? *&^%$#@!
