The Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest LGBT advocacy org, is set to hold a gala dinner on February 4th at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan. One of the honorees is Anna Wintour of Vogue Magazine. A good fit, one might think. No problems there.
But their 'honoree' for corporate equality is none other than the giant vampire squid, the Wall Street behemoth investment bank Goldman Sachs.
That's right, the same Goldman Sachs that profited to the tune of billions from the housing crash, the "most hated bank on earth".
I don't know about you, but I don't want the organization that destroyed countless lives, stole countless homes, and made heaps of cold hard cash by doing so, to be 'honored' by a group, HRC, that claims to speak for me.
No way, sister.
If you feel the same, feel free to let them know. Oh, here's a petition you can sign. It's great the Goldman has a LGBT non-discrimination policy; doesn't change the fact that they are responsible for the misery of millions, queer, gay, trans and straight alike.
If you want to honor anyone, dear HRC, honor the good folks at Occupy Wall Street.
