NASA has released two of the highest-resolution images ever obtained of the entire Earth, far exceeding the famous Blue Marble photograph taken from Apollo 17. I compare all three below - the Blue Marble from decades ago, and the two new photos, one of the Western Hemisphere, and other of Africa with the new resolution.

The above two photos are pretty much what you would see with your naked eyes if you were at the altitude of this satellite. It's humbling to realize that all you have ever experienced or likely ever will experience consists of a few dots on that orb, and everything else - albeit seen in the imagery of probes or as blinking lights in the sky - is, as far as you're concerned, The Unknown.
