The Daily Bucket is a place to post your casual observations of the natural world and turn them into a valuable resource. Whether it's the first flowers of spring or that odd bug in your basement, don't be afraid to toss your thoughts into the bucket.
What this means is that we post and exchange our observations about what is happening in the natural world in our neighborhood, as daily as we can, along with location information.
You can act as a witness to the natural phenomena that are happening in your neighborhoods - whether your own back yards or the larger neighborhood that surrounds us. Over time, your notes may provide information that will be a valuable resource, both to your own children and grandchildren and to scientists not yet born.
We have a purpose/plan/mission, which is to record observations of what is going on around us in the natural world, both for current consideration, but for future reference. Some of this is certain to be duplicative.
Should anyone be unaware, daily weather snippets from numerous locations are already posted on Daily Kos, along with and buried amongst a host of other cool stuff, over at J-Town. (I think it is a worthwhile read for any who peruse the various Backyard Science diaries, but that is another matter.)
What I want to do here is to suggest to those posting the Daily Bucket to always include a link to Today's J Town like I just did there. Now, we have painlessly grabbed a piece of a look-up-table of sorts to a boatload of weather data for today.
Now, to go nag some people to post information like the early bloom of Mustard in the Santa Rosa (CA) Area Linky or Acacia in the Bay Area Link or poppies on Hwy 99 Linky over here here as well.
Back to Business ...
OK, now back to our regular program. Hayward/Castro Valley, CA weather is
here. No new unusual wildlife or plant activity noted yet today, but it is still morning.
Please post your observations along with location approximate information for whatever you see going on in the comments. Thanks. I'll be monitoring and recc'ing and responding off and on throughout the day.
