Bouyed, it would seem, by an improving economic picture, Barack Obama's job approval rating now stands at an even 48-48. How far do you have to go back to find the last time the president's standing was this good in Daily Kos & SEIU's polling? Quite far indeed. In
mid-June, 2011, Obama had that same 48-48 approval score. At that point, though, he was coming down off a temporary bounce thanks to the death of Osama bin Laden, which briefly sent his numbers upward during the month of May. And pre-bin Laden, Obama's job approval had been above water or tied only half a dozen times since we began polling in January of last year.
In other words, these are some of the best ratings the president has had in a long while. We'll have to see if they keep up, though, so we will, of course, be back next week with fresh polling data.
