I'm beginning diary prep under the influence of a full tummy & in dire need of a nap, so I got nothin' as far as a witty introduction. Maybe by the time we get to the meat (or tofu for vegetarians in da' house) of the diary, my witty will have been recharged. :)
It's time for "this day in history." Seth Green is 38 today! Yea, he's in the Austin Powers movies, but I like his work here. :)
Neal Cassady (aka "Dean Moriarty" in On the Road aka the driver of Ken Kesey's bus) was born on this date in 1926. What...a...life - for both better & worse.
Let's Countdown!
Since Keith did not take my hot toddy advice from last night, he's had a bit of a relapse with his voice, so mucho appreciado to David Shuster for pinch - hitting. ;)
#5 "Big Non - Binding Deal" AKA "Big Mo'" - Again, boys & girls, let's remember last night meant absolutely nothing as far as earning actual delegates to get the actual nomination for POTUS. So, Man on Dog's got extra froth on the brain for celebrating like he is; MENSA members might as well have been running for study body president.
Man on Dog insists he doing fine money - wise; well, he does sort of have his own Sheldon Adelson. However, I don't think he's writing $5 million checks to him! Nia Malika Henderson gets to dissect activities that meant nothing last night. The CO result was, apparently, the big shocker of last night. Any "victories" or "defeats" from last night are all in the MENSA members' heads. Mittens talked about his "faith" in GA today but didn't mention "the M word." Considering where he was, that was probably smart!
Mittens is very good at attack ads but not so good at actually explaining why he wants to be POTUS & what his plans are should he {insert shudder here} elected. Newt's gonna try his SC strateegery in the other Southern states with upcoming primaries. Yep, pi$$ing off white people worked there, so why not? Craig Crawford get to talk money, honeys! ;D The dreaded "culture wars" are back, and that will send any non - John Birch Society member into a lather! Man on Dog will soon get the wrath of Mittens' money with a slew of ads missing teh warm & fuzzy. Yesterday, as we know, the Obama administration decided "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" as far as using the SuperPACs. As I said, to NOT do so would be like bringing a spork to a gun fight.
#4 "GOP Protection" AKA "Holy Contraception" - Speaker Sobber took to the House floor today to continue the memo that President Obama is at war with religion when it comes to women's health issues. I wonder how many commandments Speaker Sobber had broken by that point in the day?
This news will come as a shock, I know, but we, the people think Congress is full of $hit on this issue & on so many other issues. AND, Mittens implemented an extremely similar contraception policy when he was Governator of MA; he did not try to reverse those policies because I read the Senator McCentury opposition research from back in 2008, and he hadn't done it to that point! So, again, Mittens is full of...well...ya' know.
Sarah Posner gets MENSA religious duty for this segment. OK, damn dumb question here probably, but say "religious institutions" DO get this contraception exception. Don't these places think they'll lose a lot of employees because they can't get the health insurance they want?! Seriously, all this $hit would go away if we had a decent system of health CARE that didn't make people dependent on their jobs for their health insurance!
Catholic bishops are misrepresenting this policy to make a political statement. So, if they're espousing this crap from the pulpit, they'll get their tax exempt status yanked because of political activity, yes? That's one of them there rhetorical questions, boys & girls. Mittens only began talking about this stuff after Newt began ragging about it. It's perfectly OK in the Mormon faith to use birth control!
"Time Marches On!" - There's that marshmellow cannon again; that IS pretty cool. :D German robots can throw baseballs; the Cubs will be sending for one post haste. A kitty across the pond wanted to play with the soccer ball during a game. Well, that would've made it more EXCITING!
#3 "Classic Koch" AKA "Big Brothers" - Just guess who's contributed a bunch of coin for Governor Scotty Walker to help him in his recall election?
Oodles of jobs have been lost in WI in the last months; the ad playing there now doesn't mention that. Andy Kroll gets Kochtopus duty. Tea baggers can be bought & defended, and if Governor Scotty loses his recall...well...tea baggers will have to go back to tea bagging someone or something else - HA!
Wisconsin's divided concerning whether to recall their "fine" Governor? What do my WI F.O.O. have to say about that?? This recall election could garner $100 million. Wow...
#2 "Move This!" - Jimmy Fallon got his a$$ handed to him in an exercise race with FLOTUS Michelle Obama. :D David Shuster practically dared our FLOTUS to step across the exercise line! TOO FUNNY! Yes, that's Michigan's fight song in the background. :)
#1 "Left Turn" AKA "AP - Polling Numbers" - A whole lot of Dems seem to approve the use of drones & keeping Gitmo open? Well, on the drone issue, I don't know enough about it to comment intelligently. HOWEVER, on the keeping Gitmo issue {insert annoying buzzer here} WRONG! Wow, 53% of "liberal" Dems approve of Gitmo staying open; 77% of "liberal" Dems approve of the uptick in drone use. Heather Hulburt gets to comment on these numbers. She pointed out that no one new has gone to Gitmo, and there are no other scandals associated with it, and people would rather have drones than "boots on the ground." President Obama is NOT weak on national security, so, perhaps, poll respondents have more confidence in him & trust him more than GWB. Well... Drones aren't going away; the Gitmo issue might change.
