So now we are in the push back to President Obama's decision to delay the final decision on the Keystone XL pipeline until 2013. The republicans have tried to do the oil lobby bidding by inserting approval of the pipeline into every piece of legislation possible. It's been shown that the only benefits of a US XL pipeline go to the oil industry while all the negative effects go to the populations surrounding the pipeline and to the Earth environment itself.
The powerful Canadian oil industry who has Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper as it's greatest supporter is now back to promoting the Pacific Northern Gateway Pipeline west across mountainous British Columbia (BC), an area recognized for its majestic natural landscapes and home to 50 of Canada’s First Nations or Aboriginal groups. In the north-west coast of BC, the oil would be put on supertankers bound for Asia.
But guess what? There is beginning to be push back from the Chinese environmentalists, a powerful group which is not ignored by the Chinese government. The Chinese environmentalists recognize that Tar Sand Oil is not in the future interests of Chinese development.
So keep pushing, This is a global battle that can be won with the help of US, Canadian and Chinese environmentalists working toward the same goal of keeping the dirty Tar Sands oil in the ground where it belongs.
