I don't know what it is, but I just don't get it. First of all calling a congressional committee meeting on woman's health, and only having two women who both sided with the other nine doesn't sound like a fact finding endeavor. It is almost as if Rep. Issa (R-CA) just wanted to put on a show and hear what he already believes. Then he tells a woman who could explain the other side of the issue that "she was not an appropriate witness." I mean, I understand not agreeing on certain subjects, I mean if everyone agreed on everything Washington would be the garden of Eden. However, we live in the real world. If you are going to have honest discussions, you need to both sides. One sided debates solve nothing. This is a picture, from the ThinkProgress website of "appropriate witnesses" according to Rep. Issa (R-CA) to discuss the issue of contraceptives.
I don't see how this group of concerned citizens, is representative of the community at issue in the hearing. I guess I wasn't meant to understand, however I would like someone to try and explain it too me.
Well my rant won't just stop there...Now I would like to entertain, because I don't know how to take it serious. The comments of Foster Friese, one of the Rick Santorum front men. I don't want to butcher Mr. Friese words, he does it well on his own, so here they are.
On this contraceptive thing, my gosh, it’s so inexpensive. You know, back in my days, they used Baer Aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly. (http://thinkprogress.org/...)
Excuse, my french but WHAT THE FUCK is that supposed to mean. I wish I could understand this world that these conservatives are coming from, but I just can't. I mean I went to a fairly Conservative Lutheran College, I live in the commonwealth that elected Rick Santorum to two US Senate terms. I like to think I have a good understanding of American Politics, History and Religion but I just don't get it.
I will conclude my rant with a little something I like to call Carlinism. I understand why the Religious Right opposes birth control. It's not a difficult, but I have one question. Do they oppose Viagra being provided for men. I mean Viagra isn't birth control, but it allows men to have an erection. Well, according to most conservative dogma, that erection is only to be used to procreate. I know I'm coming from far out in the Carlin realm of thought, but I don't know how else to respond to some of these views.
I said I was going to end there, but while I am writing this I am watching the Ed Schultz show and I'm angry again. I know I thought it was 2012, but apparently it is socially acceptable to call an African American Congresswoman a "Crack Ho". Eric Bolling, using his good old race rants to come at it again, telling Rep. Maxine Waters that "you saw what it did to Whitney, Put the Crack Pipe down". The only thing missing from Mr. Bolling's rant was a white hood. I don't know what to say. I guess I am just tired of the gospel of hate that is being pushed. I don't know what to say, but I just figured I'd add it to the rant. Hopefully, one day I will understand this. If we are going to address the issue, we need to know where it comes from.
