I tend to rank order shit. So my list of top concerts.
It was 1997. I was working at this ad agency outside of Reston, VA. There was this guy that worked in the "pit." The "production pit." They didn't design anything directly. Instead if you wanted a brochure or ad, well somebody else designed it. But if there were changes they did it.
A totally thankless job to be honest .....
The guy that ran it was a New Yorker. Think of every sterotype you know of a New Yorker and that was him. I LOVED the guy.
One day he asked me to go with him to a concert.
He asked me if I had ever heard of David Lindley. I was like who is that?
If you Google him I guess his claim to fame is he played guitar for Jackson Brown.
Oh I would learn he was so much more than that.
We sat down in the Birchmere. Behind where he'd sit there were like ten guitars, later I'd learn he made all them himself. Without a doubt it was the best quitar playing I've ever heard.
He did things like this:
I can't actually post anything he played that night. He guards his music so closely, well none of it is on YouTube. Here is the only song he played that night I can find on YouTube.
David Lindley fucking rocks and my #8.
