But I am not. Yet another year looms over my head full of worry watching this country tear itself apart. Another year of being stuck here, and having to make the best of it, because cash is king. Another year of wondering what kind of fucked up super disaster is going to finally have to happen that will convince the Climate Change Deniers that something ain't right with the world.
But then that last part--I don't see them caring much about that. Not about preventing it. Why should they bother, when most live in a religious-induced apocalyptic narrative?
If you have never been in a church that preaches end times material--you should treat yourself and go. Consider it a religious-sociology assignment. When you see how these people hunger for revelations to happen, so that they can be with "their Lord" you will understand a lot more about the NeoCon mind and motivation, especially at the blue collar level.
Death of the physical body is the only way to heaven, and Armageddon and the destruction of the earth [as we know it] is the only way to manifest the Kingdom of Heaven.
So whatever you or I do to try and make the world a better, cleaner, less chaotic place doesn't matter to them. Or worst they see it as an obstacle that is blocking their big Hail-Bop moment.
And they don't consider this suicide. They won't actually "pull" the trigger. They want to trick someone else into doing that. Hence their constant meddling in the Middle East and Israel. [You might also want to look up Replacement Theology]. In my world that is called Suicide by Cop--but in their world, Denial is a river in Egypt!
That is why, for the past 20 years, I have screamed, pleaded, ranted and raved--Why are Americans electing these people who are obviously depressed, despondent and ill to public office? Why would you give someone afflicted like that, that kind of power?
There is nothing spiritual in that act of idiocy!
And the people who are already wealthy and powerful who fuel this? It is doubtful that they have a spiritual bone in their body. In fact I truly question if they are as crazy as the others they manipulate. I see them as calculating opportunists, hucksters selling faith healings and money charms!
Do you notice that they only reject science when it gets in their way? Science is whatever they want it to be, whatever is needed to accomplish specific goals.
These people say, "I don't believe in Evolution." Evolution is about natural selection. Genetic changes that accrue in an organism over time due to ancestral reproductive choices that reflect adaptations to environmental factors.
But these same people--who have pure bred dogs, and horses, some of whom own farms--will practice *ARTIFICIAL SELECTION! That is where human beings manipulate genetic expressions by choosing breeding stock with selected, desired traits. We do what nature does, only faster and in a fence or a cryo-lab.
These people will tell us that Climate Change Scientists are WRONG! They are making stuff up for profit. That Geologists who say Injection Wells are causing quakes are wrong!
But then turn around the next day and tell individuals in the United States that Scientists in the field vouch for the safety of GMOs, Fracking Chemicals, Pesticides, and Oil Dispersant Agents. They will even use Scientists to push these profit making agendas in a court of law.
Talk about having your cake and eating it too! The top dogs in this movement are not as ignorant as they would have us believe. They are bold. And they know that the dumb shit that trickles out of their pie holes is so shocking, that many Americans [those who are unresponsive to the religious dog whistle] will go directly into denial. That it will be easier for citizens to assume these so-called leaders are dumb, because the alternative is too terrible to acknowledge or embrace.
Well maybe not for some of us. Some of us have been watching this slo-mo train wreck for a couple of decades now. I personally live, in a constant state of *cringe!
It is hard to get happy, to relax right now. The inmates are running the assylum. And I feel as if I have to prepare my children to live in a world, where, irregardless of whether I believe it is going to end, or if I buy into Armageddon or any of that other stuff--that I have to make sure my children are ready to deal with the insanity and paranoia that is so eagerly embraced and cultivated by this deviant religious movement we call the GOP currently.
On the top, it's pure Plutocracy. But they know they can never achieve that without manipulating a significant number of citizens into giving up their power. So from the bottom it appears to be shaped as a Theocracy. But that is just the feeder for it's true form--corporatism, corporate oligarchy--whatever you want to call it.
It has been partially visible for a while. But to me, became bold and unmistakably present after the following events:
The Patriot Act
Citizens United Ruling
The culmination of those to things via Katrina and the Gulf Gusher
And then the amazing corporate-government response to OWs.
There are other aspects--but those are the big ones that struck out at me.
And I live in a place where people are perfectly happy with this situation. I cannot speak of this outside of my home. I could but it would only degenerate into name calling and yelling.
The supporters of the Plutocratic-Theocracy are fully brainwashed and awaiting marching orders.
The rest of us simply cannot wake up from the nightmare.
