Yesterday, Mitt Romney embarrassed himself by claiming to oppose the Blunt amendment, only to have his campaign insist that the story was being "incorrectly reported." Romney then explained that he had misunderstood the question.
Now, Romney supporter and author of the bill, Sen. Roy Blunt, comes to Romney's rescue:
"I heard the question. The question was about as confusing and disjointed as you could be. He quickly clarified that, so..." Blunt said, trailing off.
So what was that "confusing and disjointed" question again? Let's
go to the tape:
HEATH: Blunt-Rubio is being debated, I believe, later this week. It deals with banning or allowing employers to ban providing female contraception. Have you taken a position on it? He (Santorum) said he was for that, we’ll talk about personhood in a second; but he’s for that, have you taken a position?
Oh yeah. You can definitely see how that question could be so confusing. You know, if you're an idiot. Or a Republican.
