Remember Rick Santorum's oil shale rock prop from Tuesday night? You can watch him holding it up (at 8:18).
“Chevron’s research hardly got started and they quickly concluded that they were throwing money down a rabbit hole. It’s indicative of the fact that oil and gas companies see much more profitable, and realistic, opportunities elsewhere,” said Colorado energy expert Randy Udall.Chevron’s accountants appear smarter than Santorum and other Republicans rhapsodizing over the potential of oil shale. (Exxon Mobil and Shell remain interested in developing oil shale in northwest Colorado, each with a different production method.) Although oil shale reserves under Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming may be enormous, getting oil out of rock is a very water-intensive process. And here’s the part that Santorum isn’t telling voters: oil shale is so expensive that it only makes economic sense if oil prices stay high. So not only does Santorum want to keep America addicted to oil, he wants oil to be valued at over $100/barrel, and he wants Americans to keep paying $4-5 per gallon of gasoline.
Squeezing energy out of oil shale requires immense quantities of water. Industrial-scale oil shale development could require as much as 150 percent of the amount of water the Denver Metro Area consumes annually, according to Bureau of Land Management estimates.
Worse, does Rick Santorum realize that he's consorting with Satan?
Why is it that self proclaimed “good Christians” constantly support and vote for politicians that advocate digging into the depths of hell to suck out Satan’s body (coal) blood (oil) and breath (natural gas) so we can burn it and spill it all over God’s planet when God sheds clean renewable energy down on us from heaven above in one form or another each and every day? What is it that causes them to shun God’s gifts and continually seek Satan’s wares? I can only surmise that they are Satan’s minions doing Satan’s work.
