Thanks, Rick, for giving us a (powerful) argument for ObamaCare, and an even more powerful argument for single payer! From Think Progress:
We have seven children and one disabled child who we take care of...and she's very, very expensive. We love her...It's an additional expense. We have to have round-the-clock care for her, and our insurance company doesn't cover it, so I have to cover it.
That's Rick making a lame excuse for not giving more to charity -- given that he still gave only a tiny percentage of his income to charity even before the birth of this child -- and
a very powerful argument for ObamaCare and health care that covers everything.
When it comes to health insurance companies being evil, I can feel some sympathy for Rick.
When you have a health care non-system so expensive and so cruel that even a millionaire feels constrained by its cost, you know that we need something a lot better.
Of course, though, given Rick's cold-hearted, cruel belief that people should pay for almost all of their own medical care out of pocket, it would have been interesting for Wallace to ask him what he would do if he were not a millionaire?
Thanks, Obamacare!
