Apparently, just like Peter Gabriel, super musicians Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee and Neil Peart don't appreciate their music being used by super asshole Rush Limbaugh.
Rush, the band, has formally forbidden Republican shock jock Rush Limbaugh from using their music on his radio program.
The Canadian supergroup was contacted by The Huffington Post’s Bob Cesca this week and asked if they gave Limbaugh permission to use their music. They responded by sending Limbaugh a cease and desist letter through their attorney.
The Rush Song "Spirit of Radio" was actually playing in the background as Limbaugh attacked Sandra Fluke. And if any of you know what that song is about...that's just
hella wrong.
Here, listen to Jack Black explain it (and sing it).
More over the flip...
“The use of Rush’s music in this way is an infringement of Rush’s copyrights and trademarks,” the band’s letter (PDF) reads. “The public performance of Rush’s music is not licensed for political purposes and any such use is in breach of public performance licenses and constitutes copyright infringement. There are civil and criminal remedies for copyright infringement, including statutory damages and fines.”
Oh
snap!.
And it's pointless to call them a bunch of lefty-liberals, they're Canadian - just about everybody up there is a "lefty and liberal" - even the Conservatives - compared to Limbaugh.
It's Good Rush vs Bad Rush - and I don't think the Bad Guy stands a chance.
At this point, just one week, after his tirades against Sandra Fluke, 38 Advertisers have pulled out of the Rush Limbaugh show.
Also Fluke herself may be considering a Slander Suit against Limbaugh. And considering the fact that what she said in her Congressional testimony was nothing like what he claimed, I think it would be a slam dunk IMO. Oh boy, this just keeps getting better and better.
