Hi - I'm a clever kossack.
I thrive on feeling more clever than the average kossack.
Daily Kos is a place where issues are discussed, sometime very intensely.
Many people will write diaries or posts about the topic du jour. Many are well-versed in the topics, well-researched with excellent writing style.
It doesn't exactly matter what the topic is, I don't necessarily HAVE to 'know more", I only need to show that I am clever.
I'll find a way to seem to be against whatever people are for, because I'm clever. I'll turn a topic on it's head, becuase my cleverness resides in being oppositional.
I'll call it 'nuance' sometimes. Nuance is a sign of being among the intellectual elite. It shows my good taste and cleverness off well. And it's so trendy.
Other times I am showing you I am more sensitive and 'in tune' with whatever that issue is.
You want to split hairs? I am a master of hair-splittery. I can split hairs with the best of them and even polish the tips. But since you are invariably wrong (and less clever than me), I will win.
I specialize in being more sensitive than everybody else: you'll use terms are longstanding elements of our vernacular but I'll both show you I am more sensitive to the rights of those who have long been oppressed by the language of the common vernacular and I'll lay a guilt trip on you for using the language of the common vernacular as well as show others my cutting edge sensitivity.
I may even delve in some high-quality faux-outrage because that's very popular. I'll hide-rate your attempts to challenge my superior cleverness. I'll be aghast when you complain that I, the clever kossack - have HR'd your lowbrow, unwashed comment, which, of course, is all the proof my cadre of followers need to join in with me because I am not alone.
I wish we wouldn't run out of Hide-ratings because the power that comes with doling out a donut just enhances my sense of cleverness.
Many are like me, but, of course, I'm the best.
By now you may know why I have to be so clever - I want to be popular.
I may already be very popular, but maintaining my popularity never hurts. Becoming more popular has to be even more desirable.
I don't do snark though, snark is different; I won't tell you this to your face but snark is difficult to really pull off, and I'm not really THAT clever, plus that's not what I need. many don't get snark and that's a good way to be overlooked.
I only need to appear clever: I'm probably not really all that clever but I have a style.
And all that is really important is that I walk away feeling more clever than you.
