Sen Santorum at a campaign meeting yesterday
Things aren't going so well for the Santorum campaign, even though he has risen to the rank of contender for the GOP presidential nomination. Today, news has leaked out that the former Senator could have been on the ballot in Washington, DC. Santorum apparently "showed no interest" in being on that ballot.
This is on the heels of news from Ohio, where Santorum basically gave up delegates for not being correctly registered with several districts. In addition, the Santorum campaign had to run a blank slate of delegates in Tennessee.
Fortunately for the campaign, the state party seems willing to allocate him the delegates anyway.
Campaign manager Mike Biundo
"Frankly, we're running this thing on shoestrings and bubblegum around here. I'm surprised that we've made it this far!"
"We're doubling and even tripling up in hotel rooms. I'm sharing my bed with two men."
"If we weren't running against a completely out of touch featherweight, this thing would've been over weeks ago."
The "Little Campaign That Could" just keeps chugging along, though. The candidate has survived thus far by attacking women, gays, non-evangelicals, the educated, and as many other segments of the liberal elite as he can.
Santorum didn't come to Rush Limbaugh's defense last week but he didn't exactly condemn the bloviator-in-chief of the Republican Party.
Santorum didn't have to attack the President as a snob but campaign insiders say that he decided to do so "as a goof". The same sources say that the "JFK speech made me throw up" deal was just a challenge from his Tau Epsilon Phi pledge master.
But don't count out the Santorum campaign just yet. There are rumors of a secret plan to take the nomination in Tampa this summer. Footage has been leaked of a high level meeting in Alabama this morning.
