Watching Anderson Coopers on CNN last evening, where he was dissing President Obama for taking back his promise to not accept big corporate donations, I had to wonder why our guys aren't pointing out the obvious - that the game changer was Citizen's United.
Obama ran in 2008 with human people citizen's donations, but that was before corporations became citizens by way of our radical Supreme Court. Obama hasn't given cushy jobs to former lobbyists, Mr. Cooper, and hiring experienced professionals is in line with his promise to do his best for us. He announced, before the fact, that for 2012 he's going to follow the new weird laws, in order to stay competitive with the Republicans.
I have yet to hear any Democrat state the obvious, it's Citizen's United, stupid, and unless Obama is reelected, Citizen's United will be here to stay. When Obama made his promise, super-pacs with gigantic hidden sources of money simply weren't on the table.
