For all the talk about what the "real America" is, versus the "flyover country" or the "liberal elites" ... I think there's already a good definition:
American: From the sands of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, to the beaches of Maine- from the glaciers of Alaska, through Hawaii's snow-topped peaks (at times), and down through the Pacific to Guam, the American Samoa and other "exotic" locales.
America is Oklahoma and Detroit. Kansas City and California. Tulsa and Macon, Helena and Pittsburgh. It is Miami and Jacksonville, Atlanta and Albuquerque. NYC. DC. Omaha. Seattle. Portland (both of them). Salem (both of them). Watts and Bedstuy- Harlem and Beverly Hills. The Windy City, the city by the Bay, Beantown, DFW, Duluth and even the Dakotas.
Oh, San Diego and South Padre are nice, too.
What's an American? Me. I also happen to be a veteran, and an Oklahoma Democrat.
