New Paul Ryan Budget Protects Corporations and
Millionaires While Privatizing Medicare
Pat Kreitlow: Washington has a priorities problem
Washington has a priorities problem. Today, Paul Ryan introduced a new budget with even more tax giveaways at the very top, more corporate loopholes to pull US dollars overseas, more downward pressure on US wages and more privatization of Medicare. All he and Congressman Sean Duffy have to offer is a virtual white flag of surrender for American jobs, American workers and American investment. We deserve better.
We have to protect our senior citizens as we get America back to work by not cutting the Medicare and Social Security they have worked hard for their entire lives. We owe it to our returning veterans, students and working families to do everything we can to make sure they have the opportunities to earn a good job and attain their American Dream. We must end the billions in wasted tax subsidies and corporate loopholes that go to hedge fund managers and multinational corporations that ship jobs overseas. Our tax policy should be used to motivate job creation, not to motivate an exodus of American jobs and help the super-rich get richer. Our government must create an atmosphere that allows the private sector's economic engine to start turning again, but government cannot hand out a blank check without accountability.
