Mitt Romney has introduced a new player into the struggle between the haves and have nots; the don't cares. In response to a women asking about Romney's recent comments on defunding planned parenthood services, former Governor Romney replied "if you want free stuff, vote for the other guy". Furthering his lack of concern for many women who rely on planned parenthood for preventative care, Gov. Romney explained that he didn't want the taxpayers in attendance to pay for these services. Telling women "you can go anywhere" to the services planned parenthood provides. Obviously a comment only a man of privilege, or no concern for the health services of everyday American women.
Does Mitt Romney know, or care about how many women in the United States rely on planned parenthood services? In an article by Amy Reasner, one of the board members of Iowa and Nebraska's Planned Parenthood of the Heartland:
"One in every five women in the United States has used Planned Parenthood’s services."
Ms Reasner goes further into the economic reality of many women relying on planned parenthood by stating:
"Many of the women visiting Planned Parenthood are struggling to afford their grocery bills and their rent, so cervical and breast cancer screening and birth control are the last things on their mind." (http://thegazette.com/...)
These are the realities of many American women who Mitt Romney believe are just looking for free services.
Mitt Romney has no problem with taxpayer money when it comes to threatening to attack Iran, paying for more and more tax cuts for those who flood his super pacs with money, the price of two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It looks like Mitt Romney has finally found yet another one of the pay-fors for the misadventures of the Bush Administration and more tax cuts for his fellow board members and shareholders; services for low income women.
Next time you hear a Republican tout on about economic liberty, remember it's the liberty not to care for how the other half lives.
