Mitt Romney's campaign is making it explicit: they want Rick Santorum out.
And they want him out now.
The remaining contests offer no path to 1,144 for Senator Santorum, a fact which even he has acknowledged. Each day Senator Santorum continues to march up this steep hill of improbability is a day we lose to unite in our effort as Republicans to defeat President Obama. So as Senator Santorum continues to drag out this already expensive, negative campaign it is clear that he is becoming the most valuable player on President Obama’s team.
Actually, the campaign has been far more expensive for Mitt Romney than Rick Santorum. Romney has spent
well over $100 million so far, Santorum less than one-quarter that amount. And the reason why the campaign has been so damn expensive for Mitt Romney is that in order to win, he's had to destroy his rivals. And destroying candidate after candidate is expensive. Instead of complaining about it, Mitt Romney should be thanking his lucky stars that he's got access to so much money.
And as far as Rick Santorum being the most valuable player on President Obama's team? Ha! The father of Obamacare need look no further than the latest mirror to see who Obama's best ally really is.
