I wonder what other old - timey toys will make headlines in the MENSA nomination process? :D Leave your ideas in the comments!
It's time for "this day in history." On March 23, 1908, Joan Crawford, the Academy Award - winning actress who epitomized the glamorous Hollywood movie star & perennial Mother of the Year candidate, was born. Her successor in the prestigious Mother of the Year category is a worthy one! ;D
On this date in 1998, Titanic won 11 Academy Awards, including best picture, best director and best song, to tie the record set by 1959's Ben - Hur. I've got one word for Titanic - OVERRATED! This movie should've won, damn it.
Let's Countdown!
#5 "Delayed Justice" AKA "Justice for Trayvon" - The new special prosecutor in the Trayvon Martin investigation, Angela Corey, said today the horrid "Stand Your Ground" law just might not protect George Zimmerman from prosecution. President Obama commented on the case today along with the "leading" MENSA candidates in a rare moment of compassion. Trayvon pulled his father out of a house fire when he was 9 years old. Activists are marching all over the country. George Zimmerman's father sent a letter defending his son in a FL paper. Man on Dog commented on the Trayvon Martin case after firing off a few shots at a firing range - and after a lady shouted to Man on Dog while he was firing his shots, "Pretend it's President Obama." Yep, she really said that; I heard it on NPR this afternoon. The Mannity & Geraldo Rivera were their usual classy selves in blaming the victim. How 'bout those Miami Heat in their hoodies?! :) Trymaine Lee's been reporting on this horrid crime nearly since day one. Any action on any front in a prosecutorial sense will be very deliberate & careful. I should hope so; get this right. 30,000 people assembled in Sanford, FL last night. A big big event will be in Sanford on Monday. I hope this poor kid's funeral isn't some media spectacle! Or, has his funeral probably happened already? Rep. Frederica Wilson represents the district where Trayvon Martin lived, and she's taken to the floor of the House every day to call for justice in his case. And, she's sporting a heck of an outfit! Trayvon Martin's parents are very grateful for the outpouring of support from everyone.
#4 "GOP Fatigue" AKA "Never Give Up, Never Surrender" - Ah ha! Keith DID bring up that lovely lady at the gun range. Man on Dog did have the good grace to say that woman shouldn't have said what she said, and the Secret Service is going to investigate. And, did you hear people laughing after she said that?! Unsparkin' believable... *&^%$#@! Folks are also trying to tell Man on Dog the MENSA gig is up. He even said the other day we might as well stick with President Obama than vote for Mittens! :) Okee - dokee! I'll do just that! Senator Waterloo wants the other MENSA candidates to drop out to united behind Mittens. Rep. Bat$hit Bachmann echoed those comments. Joe Williams gets MENSA melancholy duty. LA's primary tomorrow can't reset much of anything except give Man on Dog an ever - so - slight glimmer to keep going because he's expected to do well there in a non - winner - take - all primary. Why doesn't Mr. Aspirin Man give his boy some more $$? Mittens won the IL primary by double digits, but turn out was at a record low, which demonstrates the LACK of warm & fuzzies over the MENSA primary process & nominees. The visual of having a Man on Dog campaign event at a GUN RANGE wasn't the most brilliant.
"Time Marches On!" - President Obama's nominee for the World Bank made a video?! Is that really him??!! EEK! I'm not sure what to think. Some graphics person had some fun on a morning show plugging Meat Loaf's visit. :)
#3 "NYPD Boo" AKA "NY - SPY - D" - The NYPD is apparently spying on "liberal" groups all over the country in addition to Muslims. Commissioner Ray Kelly, though, is feeling picked on by the AP - he armed with the equivalent of a decent - sized country's damn army! Nannies were spied on, too. AG Holder's even expressing some concerns over NYPD spying? Well, then, DO SOMETHING! Matt Apuzzo is the AP reporter who has broken a lot of these stories. I wonder if the NYPD is spying on me? I'm probably already on a list somewhere so the more the merrier! ;D There might even be a special NYPD division just for OWS.
#2 "Running for Gabby" - Ron Barber was an aid to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords & was with her & wounded on that horrible day in Tucson. He is running for the seat in Congress that was her's now. :) She asked him to run to complete her seat & for an additional full term! He never planned to run for office. Mr. Barber's feeling better these days both physically & mentally. He consulted very carefully with his doctor before making the decision to run; meeting the people energizes him. :D He has a special interest in quick PTSD treatment.
#1 "Fridays with Thurber" - Tonight, we get "Look Homeward Jeannie." James Thurber was a dog man - to put it mildly. This poor doggie apparently couldn't tell one human from another. ;D
