Hi folks - particularly, but not exclusively, those who'll either be attending or hopefully watching for the feeds & outcome from NN12. I have a question for you. And for the greater progressive community as a whole.
It pertains to the concept of inclusion as it applies to & integrates with communication & messaging.
Ready?
OK - here it is:
What are we doing to ensure that NN12, and future conventions/community meet-ups, are optimizing the ability for the information exchanges to be inclusively enacted for maximum effective communication WITH the maximum number of participants?
Quite a mouthful. But I'm thinking of several things when I'm asking it - specifically, how are we ensuring that the most people we'd want to & need to reach, to interact & exchange ideas with, are getting the message and able to communicate their thoughts back with us?
- Will there be transcripts?
- Will there be translators? (And not focusing on traditional translators - like other spoken languages - but instead thinking about ASL to help the deaf?)
- Is there any kind of mobile device accessible web-based feedback mechanism that can be put into place so that planned panels & topics can pre-post a few topical questions & gather feedback from attendees, so that any Q&A at the end of the panel could quickly sort the list of the targeted topics & attendee/participant provided responses in a way that could help improve information sharing & flow? (I have some ideas on an app that may be straightforward, if folks want to brainstorm about it...)
That's essentially it - wondering if there's some outside-the-box thinking that could help further enhance the capacity for participation, sharing & feedback in our upcoming community/netroots convention, and perhaps serve as a way to bolster future connections.
Dunno if it made any sense, but share your thoughts in comments if you would.
Namaste, and danke.
