Goal Thermometer

[This is a repost of a diary I put up last night. Seeing as how we're very nearly at the end of the quarter, I thought I would give folks another chance to see it and possibly take action to help fund some worthy candidates. And I am adding a 20% "bonus" to the first $1,000 contributed.]

Hi. I'm trying to use ActBlue to fundraise for a few of my favorite Democrats. Several of them are facing tough races to take or return to seats in the House or Senate. Some of them are facing rough reelection cycles. Some of them just deserve a little love as strong standard bearers of the progressive cause. I think all of them uphold a strong tradition of progressive values.

To help motivate in whatever way I can, for the first $1,000 in donations to my ActBlue page, I am planning a fund-match -- see details below the orange squiggley thingy.

Yes, it's nearly the end of the 1st quarter and all the Democratic candidates are emailing, calling and otherwise asking for your "turkee" to fund their campaigns. I've decided to try to help with a ActBlue fundraising page with some of my "favorite" Democrats running for office.

These are folks who, in my opinion, are solid progressives and many of them are facing tough election or re-election races. I also included choices for the national Democratic Party and Progressive organizations for those of you who would prefer to give to centralized organizations.

These include
Barack Obama

Senators and Senate Candidates:
Elizabeth Warren (MA)
Sherrod Brown (OH)
Shelly Berkley (NV)
Claire McCaskill (MO)
John Tester (MT)
Debbie Stabenow (MI)
Tim Kaine (VA)
Tammy Baldwin (WI)
Amy Klobuchar (MN)
Bernie Sanders (VT)
Kirsten Gillibrand (NY)
Maria Cantwell (WA)
Sheldon Whitehouse (RI)

Congresswomen, Congressmen and House Candidates:
Niki Tsongas (MA-03)
Annie Kuster (NH-02)
Alan Grayson (FL-09)
Suzan Delbene (WA-01)
Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01)
Eric Griego (NM-01)
Tim Walz (MN-01)
Jerry McNerney (CA-11)
Jose Hernandez (CA-10)

The organizations included on my fundraising page include the DNC, DCCC and DSCC from the core Party sites, along with Democracy for America and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee organizations.

I have a mission to try to get at least 50 contributors to my fundraising page by the 31st of March. To help "lubricate" the giving, I am planning to match every $50 donated to via my page with a $10 donation of my own, up to $200, so the first $1,000 contributed will "turn into" $1,200. If this is successful, I'll try to turn the fundraising into a regular quarterly "thing" through the November elections.

So please feel free to head on over to ActBlue and donate whatever you can to whichever candidate(s) or Democratic Party/progressive organization(s) you prefer from my my choices. I'll match every $50 of your donations with another $10 of my own, up to $200 of turkee from me.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

And the ActBlue page is right here.

100% of your donations to ActBlue go directly to the candidates' campaigns; though you can also optionally leave a tip for the ActBlue team for the vital service they provide.

You can choose to donate with our contribution equally split over all the people and organizations on the fundraising page, or you decide how much and which individual(s) you choose to donate your hard-earned funds to.
