Now Obama leads by about 48 percent to 43. Perhaps that’s just the damage done by the primary campaign. But what if it’s the result of getting to know the candidates better?

What’s more, a Republican campaign that is mostly backward-looking sniping at the Obama first term won’t do much to portray Republicans in a good light.

A forward-looking campaign, more like Reagan’s in 1980 and Clinton’s in 1992.
So Mr Etch A Sketch has to become Bill Reagan or Ronald Clinton, that shouldn't pose a problem to his chameleon skills, I'm sure he can blend into any background. However that is not the problem; it's when you notice him that things fall apart.
Because as William falls over himself to point out

The only possibility of Mitt not being disliked any more than he already is, is if he disappears up his own rear passage.
We will get to know Mitt better with each passing day, just watching him trying to "taco his grits y'all" should be fun.

Personally I think setting his hair on fire might just be a winner.
