Also, according to Paul Ryan and the G.O.P., this picture is right-side up
Paul Ryan continues to invert reality,
describing his Medicare-ending budget plan as a legislative Robin Hood:
With respect to the wealthy, we're saying, "Stop subsidizing the wealthy."
Actually, his budget does the exact opposite. It would
cut the top tax rate to 25 percent, the lowest level since Hoover, creating a windfall for the wealthy. Ryan claims his plan would close tax loopholes to raise revenue, but
he hasn't named a single specific loophole he'd close. And even as it slashes the top tax bracket with empty promises of loophole closures, the rest of the Ryan budget cuts $5.3 trillion in spending, roughly
two-thirds of which would come from programs helping the lowest-income Americans.
So the truth turns out to be the exact opposite of what Paul Ryan said. His plan isn't about stopping subsidies to the wealthy. It's about stopping subsidies to people who need it while giving more to those who don't. With an agenda like that, no wonder he's lying about it.
