I’m not a lawyer and I certainly won’t play one on Kos but I listened to the oral arguments on Obamacare and I have to tell you, it sounds like the tea party justices are arguing against Medicare.
Think about this for a second, right now, every one of us working Americans with certain monthly earnings are “mandated” to buy health insurance called Medicare.
Regardless of our age or condition, we are “mandated” to pay monthly premiums on a health insurance policy that cannot deny coverage because of pre-existing conditions.
Anyone who doesn’t buy this health insurance policy is subjected to IRS penalties. No working individual can get out of buying this insurance by claiming they will self-insure.
So if the SCOTUS can shoot down Obamacare, are they setting up the precedent to destroy Medicare too? If it is unconstitutional for the Federal Government to mandate that someone must buy something, doesn’t this mean Medicare and even our mandated contributions into our Social Security retirement fund is also unconstitutional?
I honestly want to know?
