I was taking a walk, looking at an expensive house that was sold. The sellers were "Moving up", according to the realtor. Next door there were some gardeners working. It occurred to me:
The seller's probably were worth $20 million.
Some of my relatives are worth $2 million (currently retired).
Some of my friends have about $200K in the bank (close to retirement age, but won't).
The gardener might have saved up $20K so someday he can buy a house.
There are folks in our town's barrio who probably have about $2000 total, if you include their car.
There are folks living on the street who don't even have $200.
5 orders of magnitude - $200 to $20 million. I wonder when the disparity gets so large that people decide to grab it, rather than try to earn it...
