As the infamous KMOV (my home DMA's CBS affiliate, owned by Belo) reporter Larry Conners interview with President Barack Obama (D) story has made huge waves, is Conners behaving like a neutral journalist, or a partisan right-wing hack? Take your guess, and it's the latter.
Mitchell S. Gilbert at Addicting Info has the unbiased takedown of Conners:
So what does a nationally unknown TV reporter do when he’s given a chance to interview the President of the United States? If he’s a slug like Larry Connors of KMOV in St. Louis, he tries to take full advantage of the opportunity to promote himself. To hell with the President; to hell with reputable journalism.
Connors’ questions to the President were noticeably hostile from the outset. If you didn’t know he was a reporter for local TV station you might have thought you were listening to one of those “fair and balanced” professional demagogues at Fox Noise.
From the 04.12.2012 edition of KMOV's
News 4 at 10:
Obviously, Right-Wing distortion artists (including Jim Hoft and Dana Loesch here locally) such as The Blaze, NewsMax, and WND are defending Conners's biased interview.
I think KMOV ought to consider firing Conners after such a biased and tasteless interview.
Deb Peterson at STLtoday.com has more on the Conners-Obama interview:
COMMANDO CONNERS: Erik Wemple, who writes an opinion blog about media and politics for the Washington Post, praised KMOV's (Channel 4) Larry Conners today for pressing President Barack Obama about his and his family's travel.
Wemple wrote on his blog that: "The tough-looking anchor for KMOV TV in St. Louis, Conners has been in the business for decades and was in no mood to coddle the president."
Conners said in his newscast that "The President asked me to the White House so he could push the Warren Buffet bill." Conners took the opportunity of the one-on-one with Obama to tell him that "viewers are complaining ... they get frustrated and even angered when they see the First Family jetting around different vacations and so forth, sometimes maybe they think under the color of state business and that you’re out of touch, you really don’t know what they’re experiencing right now."
This is not the 1st time that
KMOV (or KMOTea) has been
caught red-handed pandering to lying right-wingers.
