Walking home from main street with my puppy and my wife. We noticed one lawn with a healthy supply of dandelions, and I muttered, dandelions destroying america. My puppy was happily running through them and my wife said I don't mind em.. I said look, you have a perfectly good flower, a pretty flower, like any other. People for no particular reason decide it's the enemy, they spray their lawn with toxic poisons to kill the things. They worsen their own health, and the health of the environment because they want to kill a little flower. A lot people are over weight and have liver issues. They would do a lot better to eat dandelion salad than poison their lawns for themselves and their kids and pets.
If they had more compassion for things that weren't pretty in a standard way, it would make america a much better place. And just to extend the metaphor, how bout not thinking we can really make lawns, or foreign policy better by killing things in general? When a missile tipped drone flies over someplace and drops it's payload of death, over lives we don't respect, and surprise a lot of innocents die... We're continuing to destroy america's future with this fashion of violence. So to be more accurate, dandelions aren't destroying america, but our easy feeling of threat and our easy tendency for violence to imagine we are safe from it is.
I told my wife I was going to post all this.. She said that we went for a walk?
So that dandelion idea blew you away I said,. she chuckled.
