More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.

Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

Is that what you call the random synaptic firings displayed by these people?

It's kind of like asking if a teaching a parrot to say "polly want a cracker" by repeating it hundreds of times is affecting the parrot's thinking.  Of course not.  The parrot has no fucking clue what any of that gibberish means.  And neither do these people.

repetition of lies and distortions from 1000-plus coordinated radio stations.

the reason it has been so 'successful' for the RW is that it has been unchallenged for 20 years. until recently there has been NO organized opposition to it. the left completely ignored it and gave them a free speech free ride. call screeners made sure their 'facts' were never challenged in real time. paid callers reinforced the lies. and the left collectively played catch-up politics while the RW think tanks fed those 1000 stations and did all the messaging and framing, creating made-to-order constituencies. and the left reacted as if there was some kind of cyclical popular regeneration of stupid while the 1% used the   15% to pretend they were the 50% .

best thing americans can do to get democracy back is to increase activity on limbaugh and all talk radio, not just for the fluke incident. until the radio is fixed there can be no rational national discussion on any major issue or reform. and we can't wait for a legislative fix which may never happen if the left continues to let the RW use the radio to move the center right.

what they see, poorly or well, and others are influenced by what they hear.  The 35% of American adults who are not functionally literate are probably in the latter group. When people can't do something, they tend not to do it.  So, the marginally literate don't read, unless they absolutely have to.
Then too, until relatively recently, reading and writing were the pursuits of a small percentage of any population. Much of African history, for example, was recorded by people who repeated what they heard from their elders. If there is much to be memorized, it is probably best that it not be understood, since cogitation tends to slow people down.
Limpbough relies on his gift of gab.  Other people in his family are lawyers and judges and orators.  Since he didn't graduate from college, Limpbough likely has an inferiority complex.  But, he's more famous and has more money than his accomplished ancestors and relatives!

because they don't listen to it- too busy reading and listening to music-  and there is no written record of the main talkers for them to be able to read that it is coordinated and what the repetition and patterns are injecting into politics and media on a daily and yearly basis.

What's tragic about this is that in order to reach the Tea Party base, progressives would have to dumb down their message and use fear and manipulation tactics. Rush and Beck are very good at that, and that's why they are so effective.
The alternative is to do what Obama has been doing: appeal to their self-interest (e.g. reminding them that they are not in the 1% and - without help - will likely fall victims to trickle-down economics), and use rhetoric and policies that can attract moderate conservatives. Obama's strategy might ultimately fail to achieve some of our most ambitious goals in the short term (e.g. single-payer universal healthcare), but I find it is the only way of drawing a clear line (for any rational person to see, liberal or conservative) between mainstream politics and the Tea Party.

turn off his fat ass. Same goes for Vanity, Levin, Savage...
The Republicon Party exists in 13 or 14 southern states. Period. It's time we treated them with the contempt they deserve. And, send our message to the masses. Their 15 minutes is up. Act that way.
