After the National Review announced it was parting ways with John Derbyshire and Robert Weissberg for their racist rants, Derbyshire told Gawker in an interview that he would continue writing about "race issues" for "congenial outlets" like Taki Magazine, VDARE, Alternative Right and American Renaissance.
It turns out that common denominator for all of these execrable publications is the editorial and financial support of MarketWatch columnist Peter Brimelow.
Here is how the Southern Poverty Law Center describes Peter Brimelow:
Peter Brimelow, a leading anti-immigration activist and author of the bestselling anti-immigrant tome Alien Nation, is the president of the VDARE Foundation, a nonprofit that warns against the polluting of America by non-whites, Catholics, and Spanish-speaking immigrants. He is also the most prominent contributor to the foundation’s VDARE.com, an immigrant-bashing hate site that regularly publishes works by white supremacists, anti-Semites, and others on the radical right.
Brimelow makes his living and funds his "projects" by writing a column for the Wall Street Journal's MarketWatch Website.
But it turns out that Brimelow is not the only white nationalist who writes columns for MarketWatch. Edwin Rubenstein also is a frequent contriibutor to the Dow Jones property. Rubenstein, it seems, has been writing for MarketWatch since 2003 - the same time he started writing for VDARE, so perhaps Brimelow recruited him. But Rubenstein is also a "research analyst" for the National Policy Institute, a white-supremacist think tank based in Montana. The organization describes its mission as to combat the "dispossession of White America":
Europeans have been a source of light, strength, and vitality for the world over. It is European technology and medicine that have raised peoples out of squalor; it is the European scientific discipline that defines serious discourse and scholarship; it is European ideals of beauty that still reign supreme (despite the best efforts of critics like Susan Sontag).
In this way, the dispossession of White Americans will have catastrophic effects for the entire world, not just for our people
I have written to Bethany Sherman (bethany.sherman@dowjones.com) Chief Communications Officer and Howard Hoffman (howard.hoffman@dowjones.com)VP Corporate Affairs for comment, but they have refused to respond so far. No doubt, they are under orders from Rupert Murdoch to keep a low profile. But it would not surprise me at all if Murdoch and Brimelow find a place for Derbyshire at MarketWatch, or some other News Corp. media outlet.
