Here's a transcript of the very end of Romney's primary victory speech last night in New Hampshire:
There was a time not so long ago when each of us could walk a little taller and stand a little straighter because we had a gift that no one else in the world shared. We were Americans.
That meant something different to each of us, but it meant something special to all of us. We knew it without question. So did the World.
Those days are coming back! That's our destiny.
You see, we believe in America. We believe in ourselves. Our greatest days are ahead. We are, after all, Americans!
God bless this great nation, God bless the United States of America, and God bless you good people. Thank you so much. Thank you.
it's at the 13:50 mark in this video:
It seems so obviously written by the same desperadoes who penned Sarah Palin's 2008 'Obama-as-other' speeches. ("...who does not see America the way we see America, blah blah blah...")
Romney is basically saying we aren't even America anymore because Obama is President. In fact, he even dog-whistles that notion at the end by blessing "this great nation" separately from "the United States of America".
It raises profound questions about Romney's patriotism, at the very least. But I believe it is also secretly racist. Blech. It appears Neocons always resort to this strategy when they know they are about to lose, badly.
