Now you can Sing Along, too! It all starts around 7 p.m. Central Daylight Time.
For those of you who follow the activities of Wisconsin's Solidarity Sing Along and the Overpass Light Brigade, you probably already know that the Sing Along has been working on recording an album. You probably also know that the Overpass Light Brigade has been busy building lots of light-up signs and displaying them from highway overpasses all over Wisconsin. The CD is finished, and the Overpass Light Brigade has a lot of shiny, new letters to unveil. To celebrate the release of “This is What Democracy Sounds Like”, AND to mark the occasion of our 350th Sing Along protest, we’re having a big party at the Majestic Theatre in Madison.
Livestream will be here.
It starts tonight around 7 pm CDT (That’s 8 pm on the east coast, 5 pm on the west coast). If you're in or near Madison, come on down, but if you're not, some folks at Occupy Riverwest are planning to livestream many of the activities, including a grand parade of light up protest signs from the Overpass Light Brigade. We’ll be singing, dancing, listening to (and singing along with) some fabulous guest musicians, and having some good, wholesome, midwest family fun.
Once again, here's the link to the livestream. Join us around 7ish.

Here’s a little info about Occupy Riverwest:
We are one of Milwaukee’s many neighborhood occupations, currently building community and connections on the East Side of Milwaukee and beyond.
We are a nonviolent, non partisan organization. We participate in the events and actions of Occupy Milwaukee, and stand in solidarity with Occupy the Hood – Milwaukee, Decolonize The Hood – Milwaukee, Occupy Bay View, and other Wisconsin Occupy groups. We are part of the larger Occupy movement, and support all efforts to empower the 99%.
A few words about the Overpass Light Brigade:
The Overpass Light Brigade grew out of a desire by two Milwaukee artists to create a unique, high visibility protest against the policies of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and his allies in the state legislature. The result was “Lite-Brite activism” that has gained national media attention as well as attention from passing motorists, pedestrians, and a few curious law enforcement officers across central and southern Wisconsin.
You can find more OLB photos on facebook and in many diaries here on Daily Kos. Just search for Overpass Light Brigade. Why, I believe our very own Puddytat just posted one today.
Finally, a few words about the Solidarity Sing Along.
The Solidarity Sing Along began on March 11th, 2011 in the rotunda of the Wisconsin state capitol. Since then, protesters have gathered for one hour every weekday in the capitol or on the capitol grounds to sing pro-Labor songs and songs about social justice, peace, and human rights. Many of the song lyrics have been reworked to protest the anti-Labor, anti-woman, anti-environmental, and anti-democratic actions of the Scott Walker administration. The Solidarity Sing Along was recently recognized as “Civil Libertarian of the Year” by the Wisconsin chapter of the ACLU for standing strong in the face of physical and legal threats against their right to protest in the capitol. Tonight’s celebration marks the 350th Solidarity Sing Along gathering.
I have spent many lunch hours down at the Sing Along this past year. It has kept me (somewhat) sane, focused, and hopeful as we hit the home stretch toward the recall elections on June 5th. CD supplies will be somewhat limited early on, but as soon as they are available for sale to the general public and/or a link is established for downloading the tracks, I will post all of that info here on Daily Kos.
Livestream will be here.
