Hi! And welcome to the Tree House!!
On Sunday, January 22, SwedishJewfish wrote F*ck Joe Paterno and while the topic was wrenching and raw, and SwedishJewfish's diary that followed laid out true stories that are usually hidden from view and never spoken about, a flower of an idea formed, bloomed and formed a seed. That seed was planted and on January 28, a tree grew, expanded, and became a sanctuary and resting place of peace for any and all who wished to climb it.
Jump below the dancing pattern that a firefly's glow created...
The tree in the photo above is one that sits outside the back door of my home. It was planted by my maternal grandmother, nurtured and coaxed to grow. She planted it in the hopes that as this tree would grow tall and strong, so would her youngest daughter who was suffering through an emotional and nervous breakdown.
The tree shelters the wild critters outside during winter
Is a play area for squirrels
Feeds the yellow bellied sapsucker in fall
Flowers for the bees during the spring.
In summer, it provides a shady area from the heat of the sun
And soon its boughs grow heavy with fruit. The fruit feeds animals and insects and the birds... It's a tree that would be perfect for a Tree House!
Our Open House open thread diary will be recurring every Friday. Like Tuesday's Chile, while we don't have a porch to gather on, we do have a Tree House to kick back in and to discuss whatever comes to mind. Grab one of the hammocks or swings set up among the branches of the tree, find a comfy seat inside the house, grab a drink, get some food, share stories, recipes, vent about your day, and maybe have some fun, too!
As TX Freethinker says -
Tree Climbers are in da Tree House!

Tree Climbers Rule: Be kind.
No T r o l l s. When we were children, we had no power. But we are no longer children. Climbing trees is not healthy for trolls - everybody knows that. If you act like a troll in our tree, we will calmly watch while you become invisible.
