Good day, all. Rather swamped here in the swamp of late, but I wanted to drop this by for those in a sentimental mood.
It is, as many know, mid-week in the Jazz Fest here. Springsteen made his triumphal return yesterday and Tom Petty wowed 'em Saturday.
But the biggest single must-see performance this year will be the JF debut of my pal Dayna Kurtz, playing at the Lagniappe Stage on Thursday afternoon. Her voice is simply one of the finest instruments I have ever heard. If you're coming to town, do yourself right and make a point to see her perform live.
When I cut this song in 2003, I asked Dayna what she thought. She said, "It's perfect. Best ever." She gave the same enthusiastic thumbs-up the other day. Thanks for the kind words, babe. Have a video.

Another bit of trivia:
This is the only song I've ever written for my beloved GF. Despite the wistful tone and somewhat ironic lyrics, it has proved sufficient and, rather prophetic. Since I met her 13 years ago May 1, this really has been my last love affair.
I hope all here find something to celebrate this week.
